Eva forde talks about social workers and money

For REAL Social Workers >In her article 10 Reasons Why Social Workers Don’t Talk about Money and 3 Reasons Why They Should, Eva Forde outlines social work’s love/hate relationship with money.  Interestingly, she begins with the origin of social work.  Organized social work was born out of a desire of the wealthy to help those in need.  Money was not an issue because the wealthy funded the issues of their choice.  Ms. Forde also cites the de-emphasizing of money in modern social work training. 

This article is very timely because the social work profession is plagued with low pay, limited resources and lack of innovation.  Ms. Forde is correct, social workers should talk about money to make a livable wage for themselves and to support the causes they love.
