Paper, plastic, people or things?

For REAL Social Workers Every visit to a grocery store ends with a decision.  The cashier or bagger asks whether the groceries should be bagged in paper bags or plastic bags.  Many customers bring reusable bags from home.  This provides another option for the bagger.  The point is when presented with a choice and a decision is made based on our personal preferences or needs.

Considering the choices your profession provides helps you to find your niche.  Your preferences are as important as your skill level and abilities.  You may thrive when you work directly with people.  Others may prefer to collect and manipulate data and information.  Others may become excited when creating tangible items.

Take the time to ask yourself whether you want to work with people, data or things.  The answer will bring you one step closer to finding your niche.
