The Campaign for Trauma Informed Practice and Policy reported that mental health concerns are at epidemic proportions. One in 5 Americans are diagnosed with a mental illness. This number does not include those with unreported mental health conditions. The estimated financial burden on the US economy is more than $280 billion annually.

The stress on the community at large is magnified in communities that lack adequate access and culturally responsive care.
