Finding Exact Solutions to Your Stress Problems

The spin cycle on our washer began malfunctioning. At first, we thought it was an isolated incident. The foam in the dog bed was too heavy. So, it threw the tub off balance. A plastic grocery bag was accidentally tossed in with a load. The bag filled with water and threw the tub off balance. The malfunction became more frequent and with lighter loads. In the end, the spin cycle failed completely.

Each time the washer stopped; the display panel showed an error code. In this digital age, error codes make it easy to identify a problem. My husband put the error code in a search engine. It returned the answer. The problem with the spin cycle was caused by a part that had gone bad. He learned that the washer could be repaired by replacing the part.

Search the Web

The internet is a great place to find answers. A vast array of information is available at our fingertips. I am part of the generation that grew up using Encyclopedia Britannica, World Book Encyclopedias, and the library for research. So, I love being able to speak into my phone or type a question and get immediate answers. Some of you may not know what an encyclopedia is. Just pop the word into a search engine.

The problem with search engines is that the return is based on key words. This makes it harder to get a specific answer for your specific concern. My husband used several pieces of information to get the specific solution to our washing machine problem. He had the make and model of our washer, the error code, and the description of what occurred when the washer reached the spin cycle. This information allowed him to find the precise solution.

What have You Found?

How often have you searched the internet for stress management or stress relief resources? Did you get the solution to your exact problem? Did the information solve your specific stress problem?

M.L. Bailey Consultants approaches stress management using a solution focused approach. Our process includes five steps. We will share them here.

Examen Oneself First

We start by guiding participants through a self-assessment. The assessment identifies obvious causes of individual stress. We also dive deep to identify hidden concerns that contribute to overwhelming stress. This step provides a specific and clear starting point. The starting point represents the true problem.

Embrace Uniqueness

No two people are exactly alike. What works for others, may not work for you. For this reason, we engage with participants to develop and design solutions that fit well into their unique lifestyles. Feedback is important to us. We invite participant feedback and work closely to tweak solutions as needed.

Encourage Outcomes

As previously stated, we use a solution focused approach. We ask two targeted questions when participants engage our stress management services. The first question is “why.” We want to know what prompted them to seek stress management services at this time. The second question is related to the result they desire. How will you know when you have reached your desired outcome? This serves the basis for the road map to the solution.

Employ Community and Connection

Work with participants is a partnership. We strive to build trust and reinforce faith in the process. Our process also emphasizes community and connection. Change is difficult. Support from friends, loved ones or colleagues creates space to make stress relieving adjustments. Therefore, our process encourages participants to engage and share their desired outcome with their community.

Evaluate

We value the opinion of our participants and constantly ask for feedback. In addition to evaluating the participant’s progress, we also assess our approach. We take the time to ask “are you happy that you engaged our services and chose to work with us?
